Venice Farmer’s Market
Yes, you will likely end up spending some money at the Farmer’s Market. However, you don’t have to spend anything if you don’t want to. You can just browse the stands and admire items. Most people, however, will want to buy something. After all, where else will you find such a perfect combination of fresh produce, fresh seafood, homemade baked goods, crafts, trinkets, plants and flowers, soaps, locally roasted coffee, handcrafted jewelry, art, and more? The Venice Farmer’s Market is every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon on Tampa Avenue W.
1927 Historic Train Depot Tours
You have probably walked or driven by the historic train depot hundreds of times. Now is your chance to learn about it. There are free 1927 Train Depot tours led by a docent who knows the site in detail. The tours take place year-round on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. In a few months, tours will be added on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. from November to May.
Concerts in the Park
Head to the Gazebo in Centennial Park in Downtown Venice every other Friday for the chance to enjoy a completely free concert. Just bring a blanket or chair and enjoy the music with your family, friends, and other members of the community. Rick Andre will be performing from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m on September 22. Plan ahead so you can attend – it won’t cost you anything.
City of Venice Casual Bike Ride
If you love biking, a great way to exercise and meet new people at the same time is the regular City of Venice Casual Bike Ride. The ride is free and open to the public, beginning at 10 a.m. on the second Wednesday of the month, September 13. The group will bike six miles around the local Island of Venice, and the route follows shared bicycle lanes.
September Sidewalk Sale
Another free event where you could easily spend money – but don’t have to – is the September Sidewalk Sale. On September 15 and 16, shop from the sale from 10 a.m. till 5:30 p.m. Some of the stores in Downtown Venice will stay open late from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., so you can go window shopping or actually shop after work.
